Bonus terms and wagering requirement – a calculation on paper

The headline of a bonus tells you how much money lands in the account. The terms tell you when you can withdraw it. The gap between those two is the entire value of the bonus, and it comes out of a couple of calculations done before you deposit.

This article covers the wagering requirement, game weighting, the maximum bet with bonus funds, and the time limit – the four points that decide whether an offer is worth taking. The examples use the 20x–50x range of the bonus amount stated on our bonuses page.

The wagering requirement as a number

A wagering requirement is the amount you must stake before bonus money becomes withdrawable. It is written as a multiplier, and the multiplier applies either to the bonus alone or to the deposit and bonus combined. The difference is larger than it sounds:

Deposit + bonus Multiplier and basis Total to wager
€100 + €100 20x the bonus €2,000
€100 + €100 50x the bonus €5,000
€100 + €100 20x deposit and bonus €4,000
€100 + €100 50x deposit and bonus €10,000

The same €100 bonus therefore requires between €2,000 and €10,000 in stakes, depending only on how the clause is worded. That is the first thing to check – before you look at the size of the bonus.

Game weighting: not every stake counts the same

Different games contribute different shares towards wagering. The weightings vary by casino and by campaign, but the order is standard across the industry:

Game type Typical contribution What a €100 stake contributes
Slots 100% €100
Roulette 10–20% or excluded €0–20
Blackjack and video poker 5–10% or excluded €0–10
Live dealer games often excluded entirely €0

If the plan was to clear the bonus at blackjack with 10% weighting, a €5,000 requirement means €50,000 in actual stakes. The weighting table therefore matters as much as the multiplier itself.

Maximum bet and time limit

Two terms void more bonuses than the multiplier does. The first is the maximum bet with bonus funds – typically a few euros per round across the industry. Exceeding it can void the bonus and any winnings from it, including by accident. The second is the time limit: wagering has to be completed within a set period, and whatever remains expires.

A third point, noticed less often, is the cashout cap. Free spin winnings usually arrive as bonus funds with their own wagering attached, and the maximum withdrawable amount can be capped regardless of how large the win was.

What Ravobet publishes

Offer What the site states
First deposit bonus 100% up to €500
Free spins 50 spins on selected games
VIP level Cashback and rewards

The exact multipliers, weightings and maximum bets are stated in each campaign's terms and change along with the campaign. Read them at the cashier at the moment you take the bonus – not from an article written earlier. All offers are listed on the bonuses page, and licensing and player protection are covered on the licensing page.

A checklist before accepting a bonus

  1. Is the multiplier applied to the bonus, or to deposit and bonus together?
  2. What is the requirement in euros – multiply the multiplier by its basis.
  3. At what weighting do your preferred games contribute?
  4. What is the maximum bet with bonus funds?
  5. How long is the wagering period?
  6. Is there a cashout cap on free spin winnings?

If any point is unclear, the bonus can simply be declined. A deposit can be made without one, in which case the money stays withdrawable with no wagering attached. That is often the better option for a player who plays rarely or at small stakes.

Frequently asked questions

What does a wagering requirement mean?

A wagering requirement is the amount you must stake before bonus money can be withdrawn. It is written as a multiplier, for example 20x or 50x, applied either to the bonus or to the deposit and bonus combined.

How much does a €100 bonus require in stakes?

At 20x the bonus it is €2,000, and at 50x the bonus it is €5,000. If the multiplier applies to deposit and bonus together, the same multipliers mean €4,000 and €10,000.

Why does playing blackjack not clear the wagering?

Table games are usually weighted at 5–10% or excluded entirely, because their return to player is higher than that of slots. Slots normally contribute the full 100% of a stake.

Can a bonus be lost by accident?

Yes. The most common cause is exceeding the maximum bet with bonus funds, which can void the bonus and the winnings from it. The other common cause is the wagering period expiring.

Is a bonus always worth taking?

Not necessarily. A bonus ties the deposit to a wagering condition, so for someone who plays rarely or at small stakes, depositing without one can be better – the money stays withdrawable throughout.

Where can I see Ravobet's current bonus terms?

Each campaign's terms appear at the cashier when selecting a bonus and on the bonuses page. Terms change from campaign to campaign, so check them at the time of deposit.
